Comparative measurement of particle emission from wall/ceiling finishes used in cleanrooms. The maintenance of particle-free conditions within a cleanroom is facilitated if the number of particles arising within it can be minimised. One way of achieving this is to ensure that any materials used in the construction of the room shed as a few particles as possible. With this in mind the experiments carried out by Salford University Industrial Centre were undertaken to determine the numbers of particles emitted, both before and after damage, from various wall and ceiling surface finishes commonly used in the construction of cleanrooms when subjected to shock waves caused by equal energy impacts. The results showed that when subjected to equal energy impacts MSS panels emit few particles from the surface in general and that by using MSS wall panels in the fabrication of clean environmental enclosures must be beneficial in facilitating the maintenance of clean conditions. |
